Meghalaya is rich in its own unique cultures and the same are being proudly upheld by its native tribes. Indigenous Khasi dance is one of such which is being preserved and displayed in every nook and corner of the Khasi districts. Diengsiar (situating near Mawkliaw village) is one such village of the East Khasi Hills district which interruptedly holds the same on regular basis. However, on finding that the playground previously constructed under BADP funds was still small as it was difficult to accommodate both the participants and the onlookers at the same time, the village council approached the office of the Border Areas Development Officer, Sohra for its extension. As the said playground lies on the top of a hill, so the extension work carried out under the scheme consisted of the earth cutting of the tip of the hillock with the help of JCB machinery and some portion of retaining walls.
